Explore - Study - Protect

Our Mission

The purposes of the NCS are 1: To collect and archive cave and karst data for Nevada to further cave exploration, research, and conservation. And 2: To provide a permanent, non-profit, cooperative organization that works to establish and support a professional atmosphere among individuals, organizations, and land managers that support the foregoing purpose.
The Nevada Cave Survey was created by a group of like-minded cavers who share a commitment to exploration, discovery, and conservation. It exists as a place for cavers to come together to search for, document, and better understand caves across Nevada, whether newly discovered or long forgotten.
Our work is rooted in time spent outdoors: finding new passages, revisiting old systems, and building accurate records of what exists underground. Through survey, documentation, research, and shared knowledge, we contribute to a growing understanding of Nevada’s caves while keeping sensitive information protected.
We believe that discovery carries responsibility. By combining exploration with careful documentation and conservation, the Nevada Cave Survey works to ensure these places are understood while being protected.
